Accessibility
Our latest upgrade makes nytheatre.com more user friendly and more accessible to more people than ever before. Accomplished, in part by a grant from the Verizon Foundation, nytheatre.com, is completely compliant with Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act and with the World Wide Web Consortium’s prioritized rules for accessibility making it possible for the visually impaired and those who are movement impaired to easily navigate the website. Those who use non-computer monitor devices are now able to view our free informational resources, as well. We are, also, fully accessible to and compliant with the most common browsers in use.
From a reader: "I use the screen reader JAWS for Windows... I found nytheatre.com to be very user friendly. In fact, I kept getting sucked in and spending more time than I'd intended, reading up on the latest theater events and exploring the archives. I have to say, navigating the site truly was a breeze. The search feature works great. I was able to look up info and reviews on shows past and present within seconds. The navigation links along the top and left were also very clean and concise. The graphics were lovely and clear without at all compromising the text. My favorite feature is the skip navigation link at the top of the page. For me this is crucial. Otherwise I'm having to arrow down through every link over and over again every time I go to another page. I wish more sites could take a tutorial from you on how to make their sites simple and ACCESSIBLE. "
